Our People

Our priorities start with our people. The safety, success and development of all of our team members is imperative to our success and building long-term value in the Company.
Safety
We believe operational excellence starts with safety. Employee safety is a top priority and our expanded approach to improving it has had a measurable and meaningful impact, not only on the lives of our people, but on the value of our Company.
In 2019, we committed ourselves to significantly improving safety. We are proud of the progress we have made since then in improving the safety of our worksites. In 2022, we began a company-wide safety initiative branded “Safety Now.” This program emphasizes safety awareness and provides training and incentives to create a “safety first” culture. As part of our intentional and focused safety training plan, we encourage plant Safety Coordinators to complete an OSHA 30-hour training course and our plant frontline supervisors to complete an OSHA 10-hour training course.
Safety Now has played a significant role in lowering our Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) across our facilities. TRIR indicates the number of OSHA recordable injuries per 100 people per year. In 2019, with approximately 5,000 team members we recorded a TRIR of 10.97 when our industry TRIR was 8.20. In just 6 years, we have reduced that TRIR to 4.60 and have been below the industry TRIR every year since 2022. This is a 56% reduction in injuries to our people! We did this while at the same time increasing the number of people working for us to approximately 8,000.

We conceptualize our safety improvement by considering that if we had made no changes to increase safety in 2019 and our TRIR had remained at its 2019 level, we would have had 1,308 more seriously injured team members. Our focus on safety has resulted in 1,308 times our people have gone home without a major injury!
Our priorities start with the safety and well-being of our people.
Our safety efforts are achieving measurable results:
- Since calendar year 2019 our TRIR has improved by 56% (from 10.97 to 4.82)
- Close to 80% of our production facilities are better than the industry average TRIR of 5.20
- Since calendar year 2020, we've reduced our workers’ compensation experience modifier from 1.11 to 0.87, a 22% reduction
- Over the same period we've reduced workers' compensation costs as a percentage of payroll from 3.35% to 1.83%, a reduction of over 45%

Culture
Along with safety, operational excellence is achieved through our culture. We continually focus on improving our culture and talent management through best practices in Human Capital Management.
Specifically, our success is built on the belief that focusing our culture on a singular philosophy drives long-term value and makes us great. We call this philosophy ONE Cavco. ONE Cavco is who we are and what we do from the top of Cavco to the newest team members. ONE Cavco is the shared principles for how we operate that drive our decisions, behaviors and performance. It is our culture. It is taught, emphasized and recognized from the first day a new team member joins Cavco.

Our culture is also strengthened by our diverse and inclusive workplace. Our goal is to establish and maintain a workplace that attracts, retains and develops a workforce that is diverse in background, knowledge, skill and experience. We believe these factors increase the quality of our products and build long-term value. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and training for all qualified applicants and employees without regard to sex, race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status or any other characteristic unrelated to job performance.
We also enhance our culture through a distinct Learning and Development (L&D) team focused on increasing performance through programs directly aligned with our business strategy. L&D has established targeted leadership training programs called Navigate, Ignition and Accelerate. These programs are developed to enhance communication and other critical management skills for employees in supervisory roles to increase these leaders’ effectiveness at improving the motivation and performance of our workforce.
- The Navigate program is designed for frontline supervisors and team leads in our manufacturing business. This is a 40-hour program delivered over 8 weeks. As of March 2026, 268 team members have completed this program.
- Ignition is geared toward our plant leadership to increase the performance of their teams. As of March 2026, we have put 206 leaders through this 12-week program.
- Accelerate is for regional vice presidents and plant general managers. This program is 1-on-1 focused and ties professional competency with strategic execution. As of March 2026, all of our regional vice presidents and plant general managers have either completed or are currently in this program.
Further, we have developed what we call our Community of Practice program for different areas of our manufacturing operations. This program runs four times per month and shapes our culture by bringing select team members together to drive standards and best practices, build relationships between plants and share cultural challenges and solutions. In FY2025, more than 200 team members in our manufacturing business went through this program.
We are proud of the work we do building affordable homes for families nationwide. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to own a home - including our team members. That's why we created Homes For Our Own, a two-part program that provides education and financial support for qualifying Cavco employees. Read More
